May 2024 - A Month in Review
May flowers were in bloom as we welcomed sunnier days and bright futures at Stardale. This month was packed full of exciting activities and announcements for Stardale.
Trailer Launch for Rise: The Stardale Journey
It has been an ongoing effort, but we are finally almost there! Our newest film, Rise launched it’s first teaser this month sharing the message and a few clips from what promises to be a very exciting film. The focus of this project was to encapsulate the story of Stardale from it’s inception all the way through to today. It delves into the messages of hope and resilience we aim to share and gives an inside look into the real impact of our organization. Stay tuned for more information!
Red Dress Day 2024
In honor of Red Dress Day Stardale shared stories and clips from our previous films, specifically The Road which follows the very real experiences and messages surrounding MMIWG+. This is always an important time of year for us and an opportunity to bridge larger conversations and advocacy efforts.
A Day at Brother Fish Ranch
The weather was perfect for us to spend a day with the animals and the land at Brother Fish Ranch. The girls joined Elder Wanda in the tipi for ceremony, and had the opportunity to learn about the process and deeper meaning of planting and growing ceremonial tobacco. Afterward, they had the chance to explore the land and enjoy a beautiful meal prepared with lots of love and care.
Tea Time with Families
Coming together and connecting is integral to the success of our program, so we took the opportunity this month to host families and loved ones for an evening tea time. The girls enjoyed having their loved ones participate in not only the tea and goodies, but a variety of games and activities. To end off a wonderful evening the girls shared a powerful drumming performance with everyone in attendance.
Enjoying the Sunshine - Outdoor Drumming Class
We can see clearly now, the rain is gone! May always means the chance to get outside for classes and the girls love getting the take their pusic to the park.
Painting and Reflecting
As we approach our graduation for the 2024 Stardale class in June, we always have to remember to enjoy the little moments in class. Painting is always a favourite activity of the girls as it makes such a wonderful opportunity to express whatever thoughts, feelings, or challenges they are facing in a way that creates something beautiful.
First Classes of the Season at The Stardale Land-Based Learning Site
Warm weather fun is in full swing but the Stardale girls have also taken time this month to head back out to the land-based learning site for some fun and games to kick-off the summer season.
