February: A Month in Review
It was GO! GO! GO! This month for the Stardale girls. Between regular classes, projects and extra fun there’s lots of new updates to share this month.
The Committing Project
This past month saw work on the Committing project skyrocket as the girls prepared to film! Class time was often spent tweaking their scripts, practicing their lines and learning new acting exercises and tips. The project was also given its official release title…”Committing - The Prelude” as an homage to the original committing project and its message.
All the teams hard work culminated in a very long but fun day filming at The Pumphouse Theater. The girls enjoyed getting glammed up in front of the hollywood mirrors and finally seeing all their work come together for the filming.
Stay tuned for even more updates on the release and availability of this project for viewing.
Skating Shenanigans
When they weren’t hard at work on their scripts, the girls took to the ice this month for some frozen fun! Getting out in nature and enjoying the sunshine (while it lasted) was a must for the girls during the frigid Calgary winter.
Educational Sessions
Stardale announced the premier of our Free Educational Sessions Project connecting viewers all over Canada to all three films in the Stardale film trilogy.
The screenings have been made available for anyone to view and are an excellent opportunity to extend conversations on racism, MMIWG2s+, and reconciliation. Stardale’s film screenings are a safe place to learn about and discuss issues surrounding Indigenous communities in Canada such as racism, violence against women and reconciliation. To give everyone across Canada an opportunity to learn, Stardale is hosting these screenings from now until the end of June.
Upcoming Screening Dates:
March 2 - Shadows in Time
March 8 - The Road
March 21 - Shadows in Time
March 31 - Shadows in Time

A Very Special Gift
One of the highlights of our February classes included the gift Stardale was able to offer our Elder, Wanda Firstrider. Elder Wanda gifts the girls and women with her knowledge and teachings and the entire group was honoured to be able to gift her something in return. The stunning ribbon skirt was handmade especially for Wanda by our very own Joulleen Keegan.
YYC Hot Chocolate Fest
This month sure was a cold one, so the Stardale girls made sure to keep warm with some YYC Hot Chocolate Fest Taste Testing! They had the opportunity to try the signature hot chocolate from one of our Stardale Supporters and favourite community cafes, Caffe Beano!
